Who says you can’t teach an old dog some fairly new tricks? This 2025, it’s not just business as usual, with Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) Season 1 — Wings of Vengeance making a grand entry onto our mobile screens.

Sharp, focused and full of opportunities for players to test their skills, Wings of Vengeance (as with earlier seasons) comes packed with new game modes (Tank Battleground and Chase), an arsenal of fresh rewards and some sick Battle Pass drops. CODM players are getting spoiled, but with so much to explore this year, where do you even start?

To help break it all down, we leaned on Habzy [IGN: Erroroncrack], a pro-level CODM player and diehard fan, to share his thoughts, strategies, and what’s worth your time in this new season. Here’s everything you need to know about Season 1, straight from Standoff.

First Stop: The Battle Pass

What’s the first port of call for anyone playing Wings of Vengeance? For players like Habzy, the Battle Pass has always been the cornerstone of any new CODM season, and that’s not changing now.

“I always start with the Battle Pass. The free tiers already give you the XM4 Assault Rifle, the Control Field Operator Skill and some slick skins, so it’s really a no-brainer if you want to start on the right foot.”

And he’s right. The XM4 Assault Rifle is a standout addition to any loadout with an insane fire rate and damage output, which, if you ask me, is what any weapon’s all about. You want to be able to leave a mark, and without sounding like a sleazy car salesman, the XM4’s just the weapon to do that. Its versatility makes it a perfect pick for players of all styles, from assault trooper to sniper. Summary for the lazy: the XM4 delivers good!

For the more hardcore grinders, the Battle Pass premium tiers include even more weapon blueprints (like the coveted JAK-12 — Etched Burst, irresistible QQ9 — Viridian Idol, and my personal favourite, the Holger 26 — Stone Tiger), Operator skins (Kryptis — Wrought, Lustre — Jingwei, and a Seraph reskin) and more rewards for you to show off.

If you haven’t grabbed the Battle Pass, now’s the perfect time, thanks to the Carry1st Double CP promo

You get double the CP for every purchase from now till the 19th of February, which means you can gear up this season for HALF THE COST!

New Game Modes: Fresh Strategies, Even Bigger Gameplay

What’s a new season in a new year if it doesn’t bring the heat with new modes? Season 1 introduces three standout modes to look out for: Tank Battleground, Carnival Shootout and Chase, each with its unique addition to the already-expansive CODM fray.

In Tank Battleground, face premium multiplayer action in a large-scale 8v8 mode where heavy vehicle combat is the order of the day. “It’s gonna be fun to hop into a tank and cause chaos on a massive map”. “It’s a change of pace from other types of CODM battles where you have to rely on strategy to come out on top. Positioning and teamwork matter as much as firepower”.

On the other hand, Chase adds a parkour-themed twist that forces you to rely on breezy movement and adaptability. Habzy, for one, loves how these modes shake up the usual gameplay: “It’s [definitely] a challenge at first. You’ve got to adapt to the new environments and strategies, but that’s exactly what makes playing CODM fun.”

And then there’s Carnival Shootout, where players enter a 5v5 competition to see who’s the best shot. Living up to its name, and with an array of increasingly impossible-to-hit targets and an arsenal of exotic weapons, Carnival Shootout sifts out who’s got an eye for the mark and who doesn’t.

Players can also teleport around the map, knocking enemies off balance and gaining an edge. Make sure to pick up Operator Buffs, like Unlimited Ammo, to up your game.

The Ultimate Legendary Reward: The Mythic AK117

If you’ve got an eye for the big prizes, this season’s Secret Caches are the best yet. The ultimate goal is none other than the Mythic AK117 - Lava Remix.

Of course, the best things come the hardest, so adding this (I call her Sweet Red) to your arsenal won’t come easy. It requires map knowledge, patience, and a thoughtful approach. Luckily, Habzy’s got some words of advice that can boost your chances:

“[It may look like it’s really tricky, but] just learn the map, approach any caches you see carefully, take tasks and events seriously and stay flexible. It may take a while if you’re not getting the crates with cash or the battle pass, but completing the dailies consistently will get you there.” “Also, don’t rush in anywhere; it’s not worth losing your streak.”

Secret Caches offer legendary and rare rewards, so even if you don’t hit the jackpot every time, you’ll still walk away with something valuable.

Updated Challenge HQ, Themed Events

Wings of Vengeance is just packed to the rafters with updates and new experiences, and the latest is the revamped Challenge HQ, which ties player progression directly to long-term rewards

This is a welcome development and a much-needed improvement. “Shout out to the devs. It’s easier to track your progress now, and the rewards are a great incentive to keep playing if you ask me. ”

CODM Season 1 also starts with the Lunar New Year events, and in the Year of The Snake, players will get themed rewards for participation from daily logins. Then, in mid-February, we can expect to get some gun-loving from the upcoming Valentine’s Day-themed event. It’s love, it’s war, it’s Call of Duty.

Habzy’s Pro Tips for Call of Duty Mobile Season 1 (2025)

For anyone getting into CODM this new year, Habzy has some simple yet timely advice:

  1. Start with popular maps like Standoff and Firing Range to get warmed up for action.
  2. You can pick game modes that better suit your playstyle. For instance, you can play Chase, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint for fast-paced action or Search & Destroy for strategic gameplay.
  3. Practice daily to improve your spatial awareness and reflexes. The daily logins also earn you some great rewards.
  4. Speaking of rewards, if you’re planning to grind extra hard this season, Habzy recommends balancing efficiency and having fun. “Set clear goals for what you want to unlock instead of a general rush. Do it smart, and make sure you’re still having fun at the same time.”

Final Thoughts on Wings of Vengeance?

Season 1: Wings of Vengeance opens the year in grand style and sets the bar high for Call of Duty: Mobile. Between the exotic XM4, exciting new game modes, and the Year of The Snake, there’s no shortage of reasons to keep logging in and drawing first blood.

And with the Double CP promo running well into February, there’s never been a better time to gear up and grind.

Big thanks to Habzy for his expert insights into the first season. Ready to dominate this season? See you online, if at first you don't succeed, call an airstrike.
