Ready your villagers and sharpen your swords; Age of Empires Mobile is breaking new ground and bringing the fight to every platform. This beloved RTS, which already let us build empires on our phones, just announced a PC Edition launch in early 2026 complete with 4K graphics and seamless cross-play. This means more ways to play, better performance if you have a decent PC, and larger player communities. But that’s not all happening in AoE Mobile land. The current content on the mobile side is rich with events: the ongoing “Starfall Vein” mode is challenging players with new PvE battles, a “Treasure Scroll” event is rewarding explorers with rare loot, and a community-wide William the Conqueror screenshot challenge has everyone competing to snap the best in-game moment for rewards. In short, Age of Empires Mobile is thriving, and if you haven’t started amassing your army yet, now’s the perfect time.

Current In-Game Events (Mobile)

Meanwhile, on the mobile battlefield, there’s plenty to do. The Starfall Vein mode is the highlight – it’s a special game mode where players delve into a mysterious mine to fight off waves of enemies and claim resources from the “Starfall Vein”. Think of it as a mix of tower defense and dungeon crawl, all within the AoE universe. Success in Starfall Vein can earn you upgrade materials and even some unique cosmetic skins for your city.

Then there’s the Treasure Scroll event, which is more of a classic server-wide treasure hunt. Every day, you get clues or riddles leading you to locations on the world map. Explore those, defeat roaming bandits or complete a task, and you obtain pieces of an ancient treasure scroll. Collect enough pieces and you can exchange them for prizes – maybe a legendary hero fragment, resource packs, or a time-limited booster. It’s a great way to get free goodies just for playing actively. The devs have also engaged the community with that “William the Conqueror Screenshot Challenge”, running until March 25, 2026. Essentially, players are asked to reenact the Battle of Hastings (or any epic moment involving William the Conqueror, who is a hero in the game) and post a screenshot on social media or the official forum. The most cinematic or funny or creative entries stand to win in-game Coins or an exclusive avatar frame. It’s a fun little community event; even if you’re not into contests, browsing the entries is entertaining (people have done things like spelling out “William” with wall segments, etc.)

Why The Fuss with Age of Empires Mobile?

Strategy games like Age of Empires have a special place in many hearts – some of us grew up playing AoE on crusty old PCs in the school computer lab or at home. Now AoE Mobile brings that nostalgia in a free-to-play package on devices we all have (phones), which is awesome. The fact that a PC Edition is coming means even those who couldn’t join because they prefer PC or didn’t have a capable phone can hop in. Cross-play also means our region isn’t split; mobile or PC, we’re all on the same servers, increasing the player pool. That leads to faster matchmaking and more lively alliance wars at all hours. Speaking of alliances: AoE Mobile lives and dies by its alliances (just like any MMORTS).

Also, let’s talk value; AoE Mobile is free, but it has microtransactions for things like resource packs, speed-ups, or premium heroes. If you’re going to spend, you want the best bang for your buck. The Carry1st Shop now includes Age of Empires Mobile Coins, meaning you can top up your in-game currency with Naira, Rand, Shillings or whatever, at rates that are fair for our region. No more stupidly high credit card charges or being unable to pay because you don’t have USD.

Pro Tip: Maximize the cross-play advantage

Here’s an insider trick: use your PC for the heavy lifting and your mobile for the maintenance. For example, complex battles or rapid building placement can be easier with mouse precision, so do those when you’re on PC. Things like setting up long research tasks or queuing troop training can be done from your phone when you have a few minutes during the day. By dividing tasks, you’re always progressing.

Another tip related to the current events: in Starfall Vein mode, focus on a balanced army composition when tackling waves. Don’t just send your highest-level hero with only infantry; mix in some ranged units and a cavalry or two for distractions. A balanced force survives longer, which means more rewards per run. And in the Treasure Scroll event, teamwork can speed things up, so share clue solutions within your alliance. If you figure out that “the old general’s barn” refers to a specific map location, tell your allies. They’ll return the favor for the next clue. That way everyone completes the scroll faster and you all reap the rewards (alliances that grind together, shine together!).

One more: since William the Conqueror is highlighted, many players are investing in him as a hero. He’s actually a solid cavalry commander. Use William’s speed buff to raid resource nodes of inactive players. A lot of folks leave resources uncollected; William-led cavalry with a gathering boost can swoop in and snatch those quickly, which is a sneaky way to boost your stockpiles without spending extra Coins. Just be sure not to poke an active bear; pick targets that haven’t been on in weeks. Lastly, plan your top-ups around events: often AoE Mobile runs “bonus Coin” events or limited sales. If you know you’ll eventually spend, do it when there’s a sale on.

The Bottomline

It’s time to build our empires! Whether you’re forging alliances on mobile or preparing for the big-screen conquest on PC, make sure you’re stocked up and ready for war. Lead your civilization to glory. The world is literally at your fingertips (and now, at your mouse cursor too); go claim it!
