Setting up a Mancala board is a breeze. Here's a straightforward guide to get you started:

Select your Mancala board

Mancala boards usually have two rows of six small pits (also called cups or holes) and two larger pits called stores (one on each end of the board). The stores are where you'll collect the stones you've captured from your opponent's side.

Position the board

Place the board between the two players, with the long sides facing the players. Each player should have six small pits in front of them and one store to their right.

Divide the stones

Usually, Mancala is played with 48 small stones, marbles, seeds, or similar objects. Four stones are placed in each of the 12 small pits. The two stores remain empty at the start of the game.

Understand the Layout

The smaller pits in front of you are your side of the board, while the pits in front of your opponent are their side. Your store is the larger pit to your right, and your opponent's store is to their right.

Now that your Mancala board is set up, you can start playing! Remember, the objective is to capture the most stones in your store by the end of the game. Take turns picking up stones from your pits and dropping them one by one into the next pits, including your store but not your opponent's store.
